Is Platform Engineering the new DevOps? Why do you need a platform? Why building a platform is so hard? In this talk, we will cover the usual pitfalls when building a platform, patterns, and anti-patterns. What works, what should work but does not, and what can we do to minimize the many bumps on the road. We will see how Docker helps to build and run a platform. How do we use Docker at Docker to build a Platform, and how it could help even more... but fear not, this is not a sales pitch. This talk is a lessons learned while building platforms. There will be YAML, failed tests, broken infra, and misconfigured GitOps. Also, the presentation might contain a fair amount of GIFs.
